VVMC Adds General Surgeon, Ashanga Yatawatta, MD

Valley View Medical Center is proud to announce the addition of General and Vascular Surgeon Ashanga Yatawatta, MD, to its medical staff. Dr. Yatawatta is Board certified with the European Board of Surgery and is currently being certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Yatawatta is a nationally recognized surgeon, specializing in both general and vascular surgery. He will treat patients in need of general surgery including laparoscopic and robotic surgery as well as hepatobiliary, cancer surgery and trauma surgery. All aspects of open and endovascular methods will be used to treat patients with vascular disease of the aorta, lower extremity, carotid, and veins as well as dialysis access creation.

Dr. Yatawatta completed his medical education by obtaining membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England followed by fellowships at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago and the
University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine in Florida. He completed his residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in Texas. Dr. Yatawatta has published numerous academic articles. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he is currently pursuing dual masters’ degrees in Healthcare Administration and Vascular Surgery.
