Valley View Medical Center Welcomes New GI Doctors

DECEMBER 15, 2015 (FT. MOHAVE, AZ) - Valley View Medical Center and the GI Institute of Arizona are proud to welcome new gastroenterologists Dr. Andrew Kim and Dr. Gary Chen to the community. Dr. Andrew I. Kim is a gastroenterologist who is board certified in Internal Medicine. He earned his medical
degree from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine, and completed his residency in internal medicine at the UCLA/VA Greater L.A. Healthcare System, and fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. His eminent academic background and vast knowledge of the field has made him one of the most respected digestive diseases specialists in Southern Nevada.

 Dr. Kim has expertise in an array of intestinal and liver disorders. Areas of interest include:

Having trained under some of the world’s foremost thought leaders in gastroenterology at UCLA, he gained a great deal of experience in managing complex astrointestinal disorders.  Dr. Kim has numerous published articles in peer-reviewed journals and has been a reviewer for medical journals including the American Journal of Gastroenterology and Hospital Physician. He was named a “Top Physician” by Nevada Business Magazine and “Specialist of the Year” as a provider for one of the largest multispecialty groups in Nevada.

Dr. Gary Chen is an expert in the care of gastroenterology and liver patients and well-versed on the latest treatments and advances in endoscopic technology. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.  His distinguished academic background brings a high level of medical expertise to the Tri-State Area.

He received his medical degree UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and multiple awards for his academic achievements. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A., and Gastroenterology Fellowship at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. Dr. Chen has done extensive academic research on gastrointestinal disorders, liver diseases, and advances in endoscopy, with publications recognized
nationally and internationally.

Dr. Chen specializes in disorders of the digestive system including conditions such as reflux, Barrett’sesophagus, upset stomach, stomach cancer screening, peptic ulcer, Celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticular diseases, irritable bowel syndrome, colon cancer screening, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, hemorrhoids, obesity, and chronic liver diseases including hepatitis B, hepatitis C, autoimmune hepatitis, and fatty liver. He performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including upper endoscopy (EGD), colonoscopy, capsule endoscopy, SmartPill motility monitoring, breath tests, esophageal pH testing, and radiofrequency ablation therapy for Barrett’s esophagus.

 Dr. Chen emphasizes quality patient care and delivery of advanced treatment information.
